| LeT surprises, disowns Karim Tunda | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 18: Abdul Karim Tunda, who has been in touch with ISI and also terrorists outfits like LeT, Jaish-e-Mohammed, Indian Mujahideen, has now been disowned by LeT. According to reports in a statement of local new agencies in Srinagar, Abdullah Gaznavi has said Tunda is not affliated with Lashkar-e -Toiba and India by labeling him as LeT militants is trying to malign the outfit. LeT is outlawed in India under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. The group was proscribed by the United Nations in May 2005. The military regime of Gen. Pervez Musharraf banned the Lashkar-e-Toiba in Pakistan on January 12, 2002. LeT is also on the radar of US and other agencies and it's for this reason that it's trying to disassociate with Tunda. LeT was formed in 1990 in the Kunar province of Afghanistan, the Lashkar-e-Toiba (also known as Jama'at-ud-Da'awa) is based in Muridke near Lahore in Pakistan and is headed by Hafiz Muhammad Saeed. Its first presence in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) was recorded in 1993. It's a terrorists outfit with very radical ideology.. The Lashkar's 'agenda', as outlined in a pamphlet titled Why are we waging jihad includes the restoration of Islamic rule over all parts of India. The outfit seeks to bring about a union of all Muslim majority regions in countries that surround Pakistan and, is active in J&K.Top terrorists Hafiz Saeed, who was in contact with Tunda, has said, he considers India along with Israel and US to be his prime enemies and has threatened to launch Fidayeen (suicide squad) attacks. It's for this reason that LeT is trying to disassociate itself from Tunda. LeT knows that his relation with Tunda, which are being exposed now, will force Pak to ban it altogether, where it is still active, despite being banned.LeT has been receiving funds from across the world and its funds would also be sequezzed. |
