JAMMU, Aug 30: The drive launched by 'MOTHER THE NATURE (MTN) for expanding green cover of Jammu, jointly with Urban Forestry Division Jammu reached Delhi Public School where children went whole hog and embraced it to every one's delight.
Targeting the hearts of the upcoming generation of the school, S.S.Bijral IPS, former IGP and heading the organization 'Mother The Nature' as its Director General, addressed the students to have love for plants generated in their hearts, before actually letting them plant saplings. Counting innumerable benefits of plants, he introduced children to wisdom quotes of Arthur Young: " God sleeps in minerals, awakens in plants, walks in animals & thinks in men," and Khalil Gibran, " Want to experience God, look at the tree". Bijral said, when you take to planting saplings, you are bound to soil your hands with dirt, and don't be remorseful for the great American scientist George Washington Carver said, " Parents who don't let their children play with dirt, they murder them." On his exhorting students, they all in one voice affirmed their resolve to take full care of saplings so planted in their school.
It was a wonderful treat watching the students lovingly handling plant sapling, and strengthening soil cover of roots using bare hands. Tej Bahadur Singh DFO Urban Forestry Jammu division and his staff personally supervised the auspicious plantation task guiding students about care required to be taken. It was highly satisfying seeing students awakened towards need for strengthening already depleted green cover of 'mother earth'. |
