| 4 more arrested in connection with August 9 Kishtwar violence | | | Asif Iqbal Naik KISHTWAR, Aug 30: In its continuous probe into August 9 Eid violence, Special Investigation Team constituted by the DGP Ashok Prasad on the direction of state government during midnight raids in various parts of the Kishtwar town and its adjoining areas arrested at least four persons involved in arson and vandalizing government and public property during August 9 Eid violence. According to the sources, SIT with the help of local police arrested four persons from Malipath and new Bhandari Mohallah including two siblings for their alleged role in putting Chief Education Office (CEO) Kishtwar and Excise Shop on fire. Sources said that the arrest of the four persons comes in wake of scrutiny of the proofs gathered by the SIT during over two weeks of investigation. Sources said that SIT is still verifying the exert role of the arrested persons and added that in case anyone found innocent, he will be released in accordance to the law. Sources said that more arrest will be made in coming days. Meanwhile the SIT also achieved a major breakthrough in identifying the culprits involved behind the murder of PHE employee Bashir Ahmed Moochi who was burnt alive by the rioters after Eid violence while deceased was heading towards the home of his sister at Sarkoot Kishtwar. SIT sources added that all culprits irrespective of their party and religious affiliation will not be allowed to go scot free. Sources added that efforts are on to identify the other culprits involved in killing of Arvind Kumar Baghat and murder of Lassa Khandey of Padder is on. SIT has also recorded the statement of few eyewitnesses as well. However Imam Jamia Masjid Kishtwar Farooq Ahmed Kichloo along with the deputation of majority community called on Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Baseer Khan and showed concern over random arrest of the youths from majority community. During the course of the meeting, DC Kishtwar assured the Imam Jamia Masjid Kishtwar that no innocent will be booked in any case and urged him to cooperate in ongoing investigation in August 9 violence cases. Imam Jamia Masjid Kishtwar also briefed the people about his meeting with District Administration during Friday sermon. However, he refrained from commenting on day to day situation arising in wake of aftermath of Eid violence. |
