Achievements under education schemes reviewed

DODA, Aug 31 : Secretary to Government School Education Department J&K, Hirdesh Kumar Singh today reviewed physical and financial achievements registered by the Education Department under various centrally sponsored flagship programmes in Doda District.
Director School Education Jammu, P.K Pole, State Project Director RMSA J&K and State Project Director SSA J&K, besides Additional District Development Commissioner Doda G.N Balwan, Superintending Engineer PWD (R&B) Division Doda, AEE PHE Division Doda, Chief Education Officer Doda M.A Rather, Zonal Education Officers, Principals, Headmasters and other senior officers of Education Department also attended the meeting.
Reviewing the pace of work on construction of various school building in the District, Hirdesh Kumar Singh, called for expediting the pace of construction work. He asked the concerned executing agency to redouble its efforts and ensure time bound completion of works so that better and adequate accommodation could be provided to the students.
He said providing education to each and every one was the prime objective of the Education Department adding that this need sincere and collective efforts at all levels. He called for improving the standard and quality of education in rural as well as in urban areas adding that better education and equal opportunities would help to produce bright future builders. While reviewing Sarva Shiksha Abhyan (SSA) in the District, CEO Doda revealed that after the inception of SSA in 2002-03 in the District, 292 schools have been opened till date, while as 405 schools have been upgraded from Primary school to Upper primary school. He also apprised the meeting that 2835 Teachers have been engaged, while 1468 have been regularized under the SSA till date.CEO Doda also revealed that under, Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhyan (RMSA), 23 schools have been upgraded, while as 13 schools have been covered under strengthening and 22 schools under DWT.While discussing the Mid Day Meal Scheme in the District, Secretary to Govt. School Education Department Hirdesh Kumar Singh stressed upon the officers to ensure good and better quality of meals to the students in schools. He also said that the Schools would be provided food grain for MDM scheme from the nearest Sale Depot of CA&PD, as per the practice being followed in Kashmir Division. Various other issues were also discussed in the meeting which includes release of salary for ReTs, Construction of Girls Hostels, Construction of Ramps and Sakshar Bharat Abhyan.
