| CEO Srinagar, Baramulla attached after refusing to take diktats from Ministers | | | Jehangir Rashid SRINAGAR, Aug 31: Axe has fallen on two honest and upright officers of Education department and they have been attached with the office of Director School Education, Kashmir following their refusal to follow the 'diktats' of some of the Cabinet Ministers of the State Government. The State Government's decision to get the officers attached with Directorate of School Education, Kashmir has come as a shock to the employees of education department. They are aghast over the decision of the State Government and have threatened to launch an agitation in case the orders of attachment are not rescinded. Chief Education Officer (CEO) Baramulla, Rouf Ahmad Shahmiri after failing to oblige the directions and diktats of Health and Medical Education Minister, Taj Mohi-ud-din has been removed from his post. He has been attached with the office of Director School of Education, Kashmir. Sources told Early Times that Health and Medical Education Minister had asked the former CEO Baramulla to shower benefits on his blue eyed officers and get them posted at their own place of convenience. The Minister had also asked the officer to oblige the directions passed on by him from time to time so that his own people are adjusted according to their own convenience. "The Chief Education Officer, Baramulla is an honest and upright officer. He would never take dictation from any person irrespective of his position and status. This turned out to be his undoing and as such he was attached with Directorate of School Education, Kashmir. In the present system there is no scope for honesty to prevail and same has happened in the case of CEO Baramulla," said sources. Chief Education Officer (CEO) Srinagar, Nazir Ahmad Kanth too had to face the music and he too was attached with the Directorate of School Education, Kashmir. After failing to oblige the orders directed by Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister, Ali Mohammad Sagar and other Srinagar based Ministers and legislators; Nazir was removed from his present place of posting. "Ministers and legislators based in Srinagar had virtually made life hell for Chief Education Officer, Srinagar and they would trouble him frequently. As the officer never obliged the orders of Ministers and legislators it was on cards that he would be shifted. Same happened and claims of Government to protect honest officers got dusted," said the sources. While the charge of Chief Education Officer, Baramulla has been given to Principal District Institute of Education and Trainings (DIET) Sopore, Principal DIET Srinagar has been asked to take over charge of Chief Education Officer, Srinagar in addition to his own assignment. Meanwhile, Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) leader and Chairman, Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum, Abdul Qayoom Wani has taken strong exception to the attachment of CEO Baramulla and CEO Srinagar with the Directorate of School Education, Kashmir. In a statement, Qayoom termed the order of attachment as very unfortunate and said both the officers are honest and duty conscious. He said the officers have been attached over political interference and political revenge adding this is totally unbearable. He assured that necessary steps would be taken to restore the honour and dignity of these officers and that the matter would be brought in notice of higher authorities of the department. |
