Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 31: Enraged over debarring dedicated working and allowing auto-drivers and contractors to participate in the convention of the PCC, senior Congress leaders, who were office bearers of the Pradesh Youth Congress (PYC) today held demonstration against "pick and choose" policy being adopted by the organisers of the PCC convention. Outside the venue of the PCC convention at Hotel Ashoka senior Congress leaders held demonstration and registered their protest against disallowing dedicated workers in the convention. "We are supporters of Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad so organisers debarred us from attending the convetion", Surinder Kumar Gupta alias Shindi told the Early Times. He said that on Friday they sought to draw attention of Mrs Ambika Soni against factionalism in the party so this morning they were not allowed to enter in the venue of the convention. Shindi alleged that organisers of the convention have adopted pick and choose policy and disallowed dedicated Congress workers to participate in the convention. Pawan Raina, another senior Congress leader and Sarpanch from Miran Sahib area, regretted that instead of allowing genuine workers, the organisers have ensure entry of only their sycophants in the convention. Not only ex office bearers of PYC were disallowed in the convention, even some dedicated Congress workers of Doda district-which strong hold of Congress, were not allowed to participate in the convention. Sources in the Congress said that some non-Congress men were allowed to participate in the convention but those who are loyal to the party were not allowed to enter. "Especially some loyalists of Ghulam Nabi Azad were not allowed to enter the convention hall", sources said. However, when matter was come to the notice of Ambika Soni, she immediately intervened and asked the organisers to call all former officer bearers of PYC in the convention. |
