UDHAMPUR, Sept 2: The historic 3-day annual Sankri Devta mela will commence on September 03 in village Meer of Block Panchari in district Udhampur. Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, Yasha Mudgal, today announced this while reviewing the arrangements for the event at an officers meeting. Additional SP, Benam Tosh, Joint Director Planning, Rakesh Jamwal, Executive Engineer PDD, PWD, Deputy Director Sericulture, ARTO, District heads of various departments, Chairman Shiv-Parvati Cave Shrine Moungri, Advocate Swatantar Dev Kotwal, President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma besides Local Mela Committee members attended the meeting. During the meeting, arrangements for smooth conduct of the event like sanitation, medicare, drinking water, power supply and transportation were discussed in detail. The DDC asked the ARTO to deploy adequate number of buses from different spots besides directing the health department to ensure sufficient arrangement of medicines, tools and ambulance. Tehsildar Settlement, Udhampur has been appointed as Mela Officer who would keep a strict vigil over rates and quality of eatables in coordination with officers of concerned departments besides supervising all arrangements of the mela. Besides, rural sports events would be arranged by the Youth Services and Sports Department in which local sportsmen would participate. The government departments would setup their stalls to create awareness among the people about various schemes besides the health department would organize free medical camp on September 05 at the mela site. During the first day of mela, the J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association in coordination with local mela committee would arrange a wrestling competition as per past practice. |
