Sports Reporter JAMMU, Sept 2: Satish Sharma President LYC (Jammu-Poonch) has called for active participation of women in sports and related fields. Seaking in a function at Unique Palace Barnai Jammu organised by Indo Oman Shotokan Karate-Do Association of Jammu and Kashmir, Satish who was the Chief Guest exhorted upon the women to gain self defence techniques in order to be self-reliant and gain self-confidence. He called upon the youth in general to take active part in sports and allied activities in order to inculcate discipline in life as discipline was Key to success in any sphere of life . He asked the youth to stay away from vices like drug abuse, smoking and other bad habits and contribute actively to the process of nation building. Sharma appealed to the Government to provide adequate infrastructure and training facilities in all parts of the State for development of sports. He expressed his concern that due to non-availability of these facilities, the youth of the State were lagging behind in the sports arena though there was no dearth of talent. Sharma further stressed that the youth should not forget their moral and social values. Describing the youth as assets of a nation, he called upon them to play an active role in nation building. Later, Sharma distributed trophies and certificates among the trainees. He was informed that those trained in the first batch would be sent to various parts of the State to train school going children and youth in the art of self defence.
