| JLNM allegedly refuses admission to pregnant lady who gives birth to dead baby | | Claims of best health care falls flat | | ET Report
Srinagar, Sept 2 : The tall claims of better health care to people of state by the Minister for Health and Health Department fell flat as a pregnant woman from Alamgari Bazar Srinagar gave birth to a dead baby boy after she allegedly was refused admission at Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial Hospital (JNLM) Srinagar. According to the agitated family members who are holding a lady doctor responsible for negligence while narrating their woes stated that Dr Sabeena posted at Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial Hospital (JNLM) instead of examining her properly advised the patient to go home and get admitted in the hospital after a week.Syed Azhar Hussain told CNS the Kashmir based news agency that her wife Rubeena Akhtar developed labour pain and was shifted to JLNM Hospital Rainawari where she was refused her admission for delivery as her Expected Date of Delivery (EDD) was on cards."After my wife complained pain I took my wife to JLNM hospital vide ticket number 0424487 where one lady namely Doctor Sabeena informed that pain is due to some minor urinal problem. "My wife repeatedly kept on complaining about the pain that it might be labour pain but she refused to agree," he said. He alleged that Dr Sabeena seemed reluctant to admit her and even did not opted for any radio diagnosis test like Ultra Sonography (USG). "She ( the above mentioned) doctor however advised my wife to go home while another Dr Nighat prescribed her medicine for urine infection only," Syed Hussain said further adding that next morning her wife again developed labour pain and when we referred to her at PHC Zadibal, the doctors there advised us to immediately shift her to JLNM Hospital," he said. "Next morning my wife (Rubeen) was admitted in the hospital vide MRD Number 6078," the doctor on duty admonished us for admitting her too late in the Hospital. Once we told her everything, she was dumbfound and did not utter a word," Syed Azhar Hussain told CNS.He alleged that her wife gave birth to a dead baby just because she was given much needed medicare assistance and even not operated in time. Alleging negligence of medicare on part of Dr Sabeena, he said, "I wonder, would this Dr Sabeena be ever punished for her negligence.""Her casual approach put an end to a precious life of an unborn," he lamented. Meanwhile CNS added that despite repeated attempts Dr Sabeena could not be contacted while phone numbers of JLNM Hospital too have been went out of order. Director Health Services, Kashmir did not pick up the phone. |
