NEW DELHI, Sept 5: A delegation comprising of Union Minister Harish Rawat, MPs from different states including Madan Lal Sharma and Lal Singh from J&K alongwith chairman SSB Volunteers Welfare Society B.K Anand called upon the Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and apprised him of the sacrifices and role played by SSB Volunteers in in combating terrorism in different states. The delegation said that at the time of empanelment of SSB volunteers they were assured of permanent absorption but later on denied. They demanded an early absorption of SSB volunteers in different para-military forces and other departments. The Home Minister gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured a favourable action at the earliest. He said that some eligible volunteers will be absorbed and rest one will explore for settlement of others.
