Siddharth Sadralia Jammu, Sept 6: Jammu, the city of temples, of late, has started ringing high decibel alarms on the sexual abuses and assaults which has brought great infamy to the region. Not only the recent revelations on a rotary Home running a sex racket through mentally challenged inmates is the glaring example, many in the league have been unearthed over the lesser time back, which calls for serious introspection as what is going wrong in the region, earlier believed to be a peaceful zone thriving on simplicity through devoutness. Rapes, molestations and sexual assaults in the region have shown upward trends, not only in the recent past, but have become commonplace in Jammu which has witnessed considerable rise in the blasphemy, and that too under the very nose of the administration, that seems to be a hapless audience of the scene. While the State Government has numerous issues from separatism to discrimination at its disposal to be seen into time and again, this menace which has shown on its face a gory picture of truth and blasphemy is being overlooked, the reason being not known so far. Going into the lengths and breadths of such cases of rapes, molestations and sexual assaults having taken place over the years, the list could be unending, but for its nonchalance over the problem, the menace has widened its tentacles, apparently having gone out of the reach of its domain. The recent Rotary inner wheel episode thus cannot be dismissed as another spurt on the state's scenario to be dismissed as another case, but for Govt consideration, it has not meet any consideration for raising an eyebrow on the blasphemy that has engulfed six inmates into the sexual habitation which is a very astonishing and outstanding case in its nature. Not a single tweet has been placed on record by the twitter savvy Chief Minister of the state who seldom misses his opinion on the inconsequential events even -- what could be expected from the State Government for a salvation in the case where mentally challenged children have been made fodder of the sexual desires of the his pupil in the state. To go into the much deeper perspectives, some examples, many of them recent, could be placed on record for refreshing the memories of the administration where rapes and molestations have been committed , published in media, but no cognizance taken thereof. Police had busted a sex racket and arrested five persons, including three women, when the racket came to light after a man lodged a complaint that he suspected immoral activity was going on in the flat he had rented out in Trikuta Nagar area of the city. Following the complaint, police kept a vigil on the house and raided it and arrested five persons, including three women from the first floor of the house and seized mobile phone sets, a car, a motorbike and Rs. 45,000 from the accused persons. Preliminary probe indicated that the tenant Rajat Sood's wife allegedly ran the racket in his absence. All those arrested were questioned and a case registered under immoral trafficking Act. And the end to the story Similarly Police unearthed an alleged sex racket in the posh Trikuta Nagar locality and arrested a self-proclaimed doctor, a young girl and three boys from the Trikuta Nagar locality today, unearthing the flesh trade racket allegedly going on in the area from the past few months. Trikuta Nagar police arrested Dr Shrivasta Virk (Sharma), a retired Army Captain, from house No. 13 in Sector 2, Trikuta Nagar extension, along with a 20-year-old girl and three boys. Acting on a tip-off, a Trikuta Nagar police party raided the house and arrested Shrivasta. It said the girl, who hailed from Srinagar, was putting up in Sidhra, on the outskirts of the temple city. They were caught from the rented accommodation. The doctor was running the racket from the rented house and a few days back residents of the locality had asked him to desist from immoral activities. However, the doctor paid no heed to their warnings and continued with the immoral activities. Two of the three arrested boys were identified as Gagan and Harmeet, both residents of Gadigarh. The police officer said the doctor used to charge Rs 700 from every customer and give the girl Rs 500. He used to fix the deals calling customers on their cell phones, he added. Furthermore, the kingpin of the racket, Shrivasta, had not been able to provide any documentary proof of him being a doctor. On July 5, 2012, a sex racket allegedly run by some policemen was busted with the arrest of three Special Police officers (SPOs) and two others in Rajouri district. The girl, who was rescued from a house in the area where the racket was being run, said that she was forced into sex racket allegedly by the SPOs -- Mohmmad Sharief, Rakesh Kumar, Mohammad Saleem -- on the pretext of providing her a job. Case registered investigation on, and no outcome delivered. Such are some of the anecdotes of sexual exploitations that have been unearthed in Jammu division and the process is going on unabated. Statistical figures reveal that the rapes and sex racketing is on rise in Jammu, but only while some are unearthed, many remain covered up, but with impunity pushing gullible girls into the blasphemous profession.
