Neha Jammu, Sept 6: Pakistan continues to violate ceasefire and breach Line of Control (LoC) and attack our forward posts on a daily basis, thus causing a sense of insecurity among the people inhabiting the border belt and people along the LoC. During the past few days, Pakistani Army and Pakistan-backed terrorists have violated ceasefire and entered the Indian territories and breached the LoC more than 60 times. Besides, the Pakistani Army has made several attempts to export terrorists so that they could cause terror attacks, foment anti-India troubles and cause communal riots in the state and elsewhere in the country. There is a general consensus in the country that the Congress and the UPA Government, instead of teaching a lesson to Islamabad, have been kneeling and that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid, both the nominees of AICC president and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, have been letting down the Indian nation by pursuing a weak-kneed policy towards Pakistan and the Indian Jammu and Kashmir. As for the Indian strategic affairs experts, most of them share the view that it would be futile to engage with Pakistan unless Islamabad stopped cross-border terrorism, dismantle terror-related infrastructure, bring to justice the perpetrators of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks and hands over to India the most wanted Pakistan-based terrorists of India and Pakistan origin, who bloodied the Indian political scene from time to time after 1990. The strategic affairs experts, or for that matter the entire nation, want that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh must not meet his Pakistani counterpart in New York later this month. But it is now almost clear that the Congress and the UPA Government have made up their mind to ignore the national sentiment and ensure a meeting between the two Prime Ministers. A PTI report that emanated from New Delhi on September 5 clearly suggested that Salman Khurshid will meet his Pakistani counterpart Sartaj Aziz on September 13 in Kyrgyzstan during which they will try to schedule a meeting between their Prime Ministers in New York. "While a request for a meeting between Khurshis and Pakistan Prime Minister's national security and foreign policy advisor Aziz was sought by the Pakistani side through their High Commissioner here (New Delhi), the India side has also given the consent for the same verbally," the report said. It needs to be noted that canny and undependable Pakistan Prime Minister Sharif has been expressing his desire to meet Indian Prime Minister on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York ever since he took over the highest executive office. But the UPA Government had given the nation to understand that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh could meet Sharif in New York only if Islamabad addressed all the Indian concerns, including on ceasefire violations in which seven Indian soldiers were killed. There is nothing whatsoever on the ground which could even remotely suggest that Islamabad has addressed any of the Indian concerns and still the Congress-led UPA Government wants to start a dialogue with Pakistan. This is not diplomacy. This is nothing but a policy of unconditional surrender. It is clear that the present dispensation at the centre has no regard for the outraged nation's wounded psyche. |
