Party high command against precipitating conflict with NC
9/7/2013 9:32:57 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 7 : The Congress high command is said to have advised senior party leaders in Jammu and Kashmir not to precipitate conflict with its, partner, the National Conference. Sources in the Congress said that the party high command is aware of the development over the anger of the state leaders against Omar Abdullah for having nominated four leaders to the Hill Development Council, Kargil without consulting the Congress as was mandatory under the coalition dharma.
At the same time the high command does not want to upset the current political arrangement for the time being. According to the party sources, the Congress high command is against altering the existing arrangement till the completion of the Lok-Sabha election.
Reports said that the party high command has been conveyed by the NC leadership that it was interested in sustaining and maintaining its alliance with the Congress even after the completion of the next Assembly election in the state. The Congress high command is impressed with the NC intention of preventing the Congress-NC alliance from suffering any rupture.
According to these reports, the state unit of the Congress was ready to sustain and maintain the alliance with the NC but majority of party leaders were not in favour of framing any pre-poll alliance thereby meaning that the Congress leadership in the state wants to contest the next Assembly poll on its own and without any electoral understanding or adjustment with the NC.
In fact the state unit of the Congress wants to repeat the experiment it had conducted during the just ended election to the Kargil Hill Development Council in which the Congress won 10 seats against eight by the NC.
The state unit of the Congress is keen to keep the pen open for forging alliance with the PDP after the end of the next Assembly poll. But the party high command wants no change in the current political arrangement till the completion of the Assemby poll.
