Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 7: Cong is contemplating snapping ties with National Conference after NC having engineered control over Kargil Council.
The state unit of the Cong has told the party high command that NC has backstabbed it and party should snap ties with it.
Cong was hoping to control Kargil with the support of five independents. The party had already increased its tally and was hoping to control the Kargil Council for the first time. The party in this eventuality would have been controlling both Kargil and Leh councils.
The party senior leaders have even publically stated that people of Kargil had reposed their faith in Cong and it would elect its own CEC.
PCC president Saif-ud-din Soz had said that it would form the Council.
The NC had according to Congress engineered this move to control the council as it would have at least giving it some standing in the Kargil district especially when the elections are drawing close.
Cong leaders in the recent concluded convention attended by Ghulam Nabi Azad and Ambika Soni had said that Kargil elections had shown that party is on the move and it can form government on its own.
"NC has with this move showed that it's desperate and can make such moves in the future also. Party high command has been told categorically to snap ties with it as it is right time and public opinion is also with us and it would translate in more votes," said a senior Cong leader.
Cong says in the past also NC ditched it by taking MP from Kargil when Cong had clear claim for it.
