| SAD (N) demands implementation of National Minority Act | | | Et Report JAMMU, Sept 7: Shiromani Akali Dal- National (SAD-N) reiterated its demand of extension of National Minority Act of 1992 to the State and reservation of seats in Legislature to have their representative character. Addressing the media persons here today, Gurdev Singh, Working President alongwith Dayal Singh Wazir, General Secretary expressed their anguish over the failure of present dispensation led by Omar Abdullah for continuously depriving legitimate benefit due to the Minority community of Sikhs in state of J&K by not extending national minority Act 1992 to the State, thereby avoiding implementation of national Schemes for the benefits of Minority. He said that despite being ethnic minority community having distinct culture and faith contributed immensely for the security and prosperity of the state. The legitimate demands of the minority community of Sikhs are continuously being ignored for over 11 years by the present coalition Govt. and other political dispensation after accession of J&K into the rest of country. Hostile attitude of the political dispensation towards the Sikhs minority community has caused brewing resentment amongst the Sikhs of the state thereby alienating them from the mainstream and making them lag behind other community in socio-economic and political arena. He further said that Sikhs are being continuously discriminated in employment, promotions, transfers and postings. |
