| Throwing norms in air, high school being run in just two shops | | | Et Report Rajouri, Sept 7: In a blatant example of throwing all norms to air a private high school is being run under the aegis of Bhatti Memorial Education Trust in two (8x16 sq ft) shops that too right under the nose of District Administration and Chief Education Officer on Rajouri-Budhal road. As per sources atleast 180 students have been enrolled by the school administration of this so called 'model' school, which is having no facilities (as per guidelines of authorities) like play ground, electricity, fans, separate toilets for students, class rooms, desks etc but it is still being functionally allegedly with the permission from concerned education authorities. This so called school situated at Nagrota on Rajouri - Budhal road is being managed by Bhatti Memorial Education Trust and students including girls either are seen sitting in the open land or on the roofs of the shops. The shops even don't have any proper flooring. "We have to go to open fields to answer nature's calls which is humiliating for us. Besides this during rains we either sit with other students in the shops or have an unofficial holiday," said Arif (name changed) of 10th class student. Another student of school Yasir said that the school has no mathematics and science teachers for the last two months yet the school management is charging Rs800 fee per month. "Several times our parents contacted the school management to provide teachers but all in vain" another student lamented. A leisure visit to school by anyone will expose this when students from various classes were found studying in one shop without desks. When contacted Chief Education Officer Rajouri said, "A committee will be constituted to verify the facts/allegations and strict departmental action will be taken against them who had recommended the permission to run this school without full filling required departmental norms." Lal Hussain, who joined as CEO Rajouri only three days ago added that he will personally try to visit the school/ other such schools during next working days to check whether the school managements have provided required facilities in their institutions or not. "Suitable action under law will be taken against the violators of norms set by the education authorities" said CEO. More surprising was this that another private institution namely BGSB public school is also running in at a distance of 200meters from this institution which is also a gross violation of rules laid down by the education department as under SRO123 schools must have play grounds, separate class rooms, toilet blocks for girls and boys, drinking water facilities etc and there must be atleast one km distance between two existing schools. |
