| KPs express disappointment over PM's employment package remaining in complete limbo | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 15: A meeting of the Kashmiri Pandit Sabha was held under the chairmanship of its president K K Khosa to take stock of the progress of the various issues confronting the community. While briefing the committee about the deliberations that took place during the 5th meeting of the apex committee held in Srinagar on the 6th of September 2013 that was presided over by the Chief Minister, he stated that the action taken report presented before the apex committee on the decisions taken in the last meeting held on 18th September 2012 was highly disappointing as none of its decisions had seen the light of the day till now. One of the most significant decisions taken in last years meeting regarding the active involvement of apex committee members to oversee the expeditious implementation of the various aspects of the Prime Minister's Package by formation of sub committees comprising of its non official members had not been implemented resulting in the PMs package remaining in a complete limbo. The Chief Minister showed his annoyance when the official members tried to justify this lapse by stating that they were waiting for the approval of the central govt. regarding some revised proposals which had been submitted to it. He directed that the Sub Committees should be constituted without any further delay. The Sabha president pointed out that the Govt. was non serious in the implementation of the package which is obvious due to the fact that during the last 5 years out of the nine points contained in it only one point had been partly implemented. This has shown both the Govts in poor light. Out of the promised 6000 jobs only 1446 youth had been employed till now putting the future of thousands of others in jeopardy because many of them have crossed the eligibility age in the meantime. The sabha president pointed out to the apex committee that a golden opportunity to build confidence amongst the minority community had been squandered away during the last 5 years. The president also expressed his anguish at the non committal stance of the C.M over another vital issue i.e. the passage of the Temples and Shrines bill which could be another confidence building measure at this juncture. Although there was no categorical assurance by the CM regarding its passage yet he gave an assurance on behalf of his party and also stated that he has requested the congress president Sonia Gandhi to direct the congress MLA's to support the bill. The sabha unanimously resolved to fight for the passage of the bill and strengthen the hands of the Prem Nath Bhat memorial trust which is spearheading this movement. The sabha also warned the Govt. of a severe backlash in the forthcoming elections in case there is further dilly dallying on the issue at the behest of rogue elements who have developed vested interests in the administering of some of the shrines and temples. The sabha also urged the CM to ensure that there is no slippage on the commitment made by him in the recent apex committee meeting on the recruitment of the rest of the 1443 youth well before the next meeting of the apex committee proposed to be held in April 2014. Others who were present in the meeting were Ashok Braroo, Ashwani Koul, S.L.Bagati, Ashok Khar Subhash Dhar, J L Zutshi, B.L.Tickoo, G J Kampasi, J.Parimoo, R L Koul,Shamaji Handoo, Rajinder Tickoo and Ashok Tickoo. |
