MOHD IRFAN Jammu, Sept 15 : Contrary to the tall claims of state government of providing adequate teaching faculty & proper infrastructure in government schools of rural areas, most of schools narrate the story of neglect.The Government higher school of Neel in Banihal constituency faces dearth of teachers. Sources divulge that there are hardly 8 teachers in the school & 20 posts are vacant. Constructed in the year 2003,10 years on school is craving for teachers, science lecturers and basic amenities. Teachers posted in school said, "we are facing immense hardships as we have to take double classes of students due to shortage of teachers." Sources said authorities at the helm of affairs do not bother to fulfill the vacant posts which affects education. One of the students said, "Despite taking up the issue with the authorities, nothing has moved." There are about more than 700 students who are taking education in school. The handful of teachers, the students said, find it difficult to cater to the needs of all the students. Another students said, "We are really unfortunate being deprived of teachers otherwise government boasts of schemes & adequate staff but it is confined to papers only" he lamented. At a time when students are prefer to opt for science stream; shortage of teachers is unfortunate, the students said. "Due to the Non-availability of science lecturer students are facing problems who desire to take science stream they have to suffer as majority of students are from poor families & they are unable take admission in private schools". The agitated students have threatened agitation if the teachers are not made available as soon as possible. |
