| Farooq Khan now all set to get post retirement 'gift' from Govt …… | | Unwarranted 'Loyalties' for political bosses ruined his career | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 15: In what can be seen a typical instance of a top ranked Police officer getting entangled in the witch- hunting net of politicians having ended up a loser in his career ambition. Though his sycophantic acts fulfilled the nefarious motives of his bosses in the government, but this cost the senior Police officer the top job in Jammu Police. Farooq Khan, who saw his service career tossing at the behest of the politicians on whose directions he acted selectively against media as also a section of businessmen is all set to achieve superannuation in a few weeks, albeit not without getting some post retirement 'rewards'. Reliable sources said after having used Khan for settling their own scores against media, businessmen and even politicians, the government is contemplating to 'adjust' him with post retirement assignment in lieu of the 'services' and loyalties he has rendered to them during the course of career , even as he was actually eyeing and waiting for a top post in Jammu region. While the government failed him utterly in realizing this dream for which he blindly followed their instructions, he is now in for some assignment after his superannuation, a move which is sure to raise many eyebrows and raise a storm from the opposition. Farooq Khan remained DIG Jammu Kathua range for a prolonged tenure became a mere pawn in the power games of political bosses and took to witch hunting not only against media organizations but also several politicians. He also resorted to harassment without any base of some businessmen -all at the behest of the political party in power. Farooq Khan did all this apparently expecting favours from them in turn in managing his posting as IGP Jammu. But this did not work. Even after vigorous lobbying in his favour for the top job after he was promoted as IGP, the same political bosses whom he worked for even foregoing the professional ethics and principles of natural justice, dumped him and marginalized him for the remaining period of his service. Sources disclose that the said officer knocked at the doors of all those who had used him for settling their own scores at different quarters. But he got nothing except assurances and was handed over insignificant posting as head of a training institute of the State Police rather than his dream posting as IGP Jammu. And what perhaps marred his chances was the instruction from a particular political quarter to work and fabricate against a senior Jammu based politician in the government. The move changed the game as it was not only based on witch hunting strategy but ended him up as a loser as what could have earned him a favor from the Jammu based Politician probably did not favour his placement on the top post. Top sources in Police admit that the officer who has been accredited with several firsts in the state police organization during his career was taken over by over ambition and he allowed himself to be used by the political masters that ruined his own career.
