Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 15: All India Congress Committee (AICC) Secretary Incharge J&K Affairs Maimul Haque (MLA) was accorded reception on his arrival here today at PCC headquarters, where hundreds of Congress leaders and workers were present. Addressing the gathering of party men, Maimul Haque said that Congress party has experience of coalition politics and the path of coalition was always difficult. He asked the party men to strengthen the party at the grass root level by propagating the policies of the party and programmes of the UPA government, which has numerous achievements on all fronts and has extended all sort of support to the state of J&K. He said that landmark initiatives of Congress led government at the centre like Food Security, Right to Information, Right to Education, Right to Employment, (MGNREGA) and Land Acquisition Bill should reach to the people. Later addressing a public meeting in Nagrota constituency organized by Ex-MLA Shiv Dev Singh, AICC secretary said that the strengthening of Panchayat Raj Institution on the pattern of 73rd & 74th Amendment and holding of remaining elections of these institutions is the key to strengthen democracy & ensure the participation of people in the governance. The Congress party is committed to strengthen democracy and secularism in the state & country, he added. He appreciated the efforts of Thakur Shiv Dev Singh, Ex-MLA for organizing the function and assured that sentiments of the congress workers would be brought to the notice of the high command. |
