Madan raises voice for ex-servicemen

Jammu, Sept 15: Member Parliament Jammu Poonch constituency Madan Lal Sharma while laying foundation stone of the community hall at Sainik colony, voiced for the rights of Ex-servicemen.
According to press release, lauding the role of Army, Sharma said that in his life a soldier work throughout to safe guard borders to give people a peaceful life. "A soldier works throughout to maintain the sovereignty and integrity of the nation as such it becomes duty of the State to reciprocate and provide him all basic amenities. VAT free canteen items, their re-employment are few steps in this direction", he said.
Expressing dismay Sharma said that it was unfortunate that quota for re-employment is not implemented in J&K state. He demanded proper implementation of existing quota and recommended for its enhancement to actual benefit the soldiers and their families.
He also demanded the immediate waiver off VAT from canteen items to facilitate families of both serving and Ex-servicemen. Sharma also called upon to safe guard the properties of the serving soldiers, as sometime people encroaching their lands. He demanded full legal and other protection to the serving/ retired soldiers. Sharma also demanded a special package for the Soldiers belonging to J&K state who sacrificed their lives while fighting militancy / facing border fury. He said that it can done in the pattern of assistance provided to the families of the martyrs in the State like UP, Bihar, HP etc.
Earlier, Sharma addressed a largely attended meeting at Gandhi Nagar wherein various issues related to development of Jammu and forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. While asking the party cadre to strengthen for the elections he cautioned people to be aware the nefarious designs of the communal forces who were bent upon to break the secular fabric, amity and brotherhood. He emphasized that for the development of Jammu region in particular and state in general.
Prominent among others present on the occasion included Raman Bhalla, Manjit Singh, Dr. Khem Raj Sharma, Dr. R.D Sharma, SK Sharma, KN Raina, PR Sharma.
