| Police seize wooden slippers, medicinal herbs at Bhaderwah | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
DODA, Sept 15: Police today recovered an illegal consignment of wooden slippers while it also confiscated rare medicinal herbs in Bhaderwah. Based on reliable inputs, during the intervening night of September 14 and 15, a team of District Police, Doda led by Insp Gurmeet Singh SHO P/S Bhaderwah intercepted a Truck bearing No. JK02 AS 0653J near Domail Bhaderwah and during checking of the vehicle 226 slippers (126 Deodar, 64 Kail, 2 Fur) were recovered.Driver of the truck Gai Singh, son of Lakhmi Chand of Bhata Kishtwar and Mohd Ashraf son of Mohd Sikander of Chabba Thathri were arrested on-spot. The Forester Safir Ahmed who was also in the vehicle fled away from the spot. The timber was being smuggled illegally. In this regard a caser FIR No. 156/2013 u/s 6/15 Forest Act stands registered at P/S Bhaderwahand investigation has been set into motion. In a similar drive against the smuggling of forest products including Gushi/Nagchattri, a team of P/S Bhaderwah led by Insp Gurmeet Singh, SHO Police Station Bhaderwah, on a specific information raided the house of one Rajesh Padha son of Vidya Sagar Padha of Sartingal Bhaderwah and recovered 170 Kgs of Gushi and 9 Kgs of Nagchattri and also arrested the accused Rajesh Padha.In this connection, case FIR No. 157/2013u/s 379 RPC, 6 Forest Act was registered at Police Station Bhaderwah. The drive was conducted under the overall supervision of ASP Bhaderwah, Roop Raj Bhagat. |
