| Immediate arrest of absconding members of PSA demanded | | | Et Report Jammu, Sept 16: Jammu Kashmir Democratic Front youth wing has demanded immediate arrest of miscreants and absconders of Progressive Student Alliance, a banned group in Jammu University which severely assaulted a University scholar and state secretary JKDF youth wing Kapil Shastri in an attack few days ago. In a joint press conference addressed by the Munish Khajuria (state president JKDF youth wing), Abhishek Slathia (state president, JKDF student union) and Raman Sharma (University scholar), the action of PSA was strongly condemned. Addressing the media Munish Khajuria said, " Till date only four girls and two boys of banned group PSA are arrested. Attackers were more than dozen in numbers and are still on large. Kapil Shastri, a research scholar of Dogri Department who has been severely beaten by this group has named three students namely Manik Sharma, Talib Hussain and Sakshi Raina as prime accused. But trio is still to be arrested. The activities of PSA were under scanner from very long time, but University administration has banned it only after the recurrence of this happening." JKDF demand immediate arrests of absconding members of PSA and thorough investigation of the matter and necessary measures to stop such recurrence of hooliganism in future. Affiliation of PSA with anti social elements should also be investigated. "Students and scholars of Jammu University shall resort to agitation if congenial atmosphere for studies in university is not made by the administration. We appeal to Vice Chancellor of University to take immediate action against other such groups who are disturbing the peaceful atmosphere in university," said Raman Sharma (a scholar from Dogri Department of University). |
