Srinagar, Sept 16: The recent statement of senior Congress leader and Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services and Sports, Taj Mohi-ud-Din on the recent Shopian killings has evoked severe reaction from various quarters.
National Conference (NC) leader Dr Mustafa Kamaal and CPI(M) leader Tarigami have accused him of going against the findings of the police and the magisterial probe ordered by his own Government.
Taking serious note of the statement, Kamaal and Tarigami said that by making such baseless and irresponsible statements at a time when Shopian is boiling and people are suffering because of strict curfew, Taj wants to create trouble. "Besides he doubts the probe process started by his own Government and is trying to overrule all the investigating agencies of the state including the JKP," they said.
Talking to Early Times, Kamaal said that when the senior Congress leader is so informed about the Shopian incident he must go and depose before the enquiry. He said that Taj Mohi-ud-din being a part of the coalition Government is equally responsible for providing justice to the affected families at the moment and not making the statements which can degrade the image of coalition Government among the common masses of Kashmir.
Tarigami while describing the statement of Congress Minister as unfortunate said that according to him there is no need to make separate statements on the tragedy and add fuel to the fire at a time when people of Shopian are suffering in strict curfew from last many days and need sympathy, people like Taj Mohi-ud-Din must wait and watch the outcome of probe process initiated by the statement Government in this regard.
Pertinently the firing incident in Gagran, Shopian on 07-09-2013 in which four persons were killed and one got injured is being investigated by Jammu and Kashmir Police independently and added make to the public that three killed persons killed in the incident namely Tawseef Ahmad Bhat resident of Baba Mohalla Shopian, Mohammad Yousf Sofi resident of Durpora, Zainapora Shopian and Tariq Ahmad Mir resident of Okay of Kulgam district do not have any previous record of militancy in Police records against all the three and the fourth non-local looking person has not also been claimed by any militant outfit and nor is identified by any local. However, the evidence collected from the spot and subsequent verifications suggest that he is Abdullah Haroon of LeT militant outfit.
Many people who came to know about the statement of Taj Mohi-ud-Din called early times and said that he should think before making any statement on the killing of three innocents at a time when even JKP has given them clean chit and when Shopian is burning and people are made to suffer because of strict curfew from last eleven days in the area.
