Jammu, Sept 16: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Jammu organized 6th Extension Education Council meeting on 16th September, 2013 under the chairmanship of Prof. D.K. Arora, Vice-Chancellor of the University. In his opening remarks, the Vice-Chancellor stressed upon the University Scientists and provisional heads of the line departments to further strengthening of coordination between the research and extension agencies for boosting agricultural productivity in the Jammu division. He also stressed upon the participants to have more interaction for chalking\ out the strategies for enhancing agricultural production and economic return to the farmers of the region. He emphasized for developing road map for long term coordinated efforts of university and allied development departments; mineral mapping of soil, plant and live-stock; and boosting of fodder production in the region. The meeting was attended by the Directors of the University, Field Departments of the Agriculture, Horticulture, Floriculture and Sericulture, Joint Directors of the Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries, the representatives of J&K State, agro-industries, IFFCO and three progressive farmers namely Col. Bana Ram of Akhnoor, S. Tunda Singh of Kathua and Sh. Ragunandan Khajuria of Bishnah. In the concluding remarks, the Vice-Chancellor expressed his satisfaction about the work-done by the KVKs. He again emphasized on studying the impact of training and other capacity building programme being carried out by the various units of the university. He also stressed on the generation of improved technologies by the university and its mass dissemination by the development departments so that the speedy improvement can be carried out in the agricultural and its allied sectors.
