JAMMU, Sept 16: The opening day of the inter-college (men and women) competitions of the University of Jammu witnessed most of the scheduled matches ending in walkovers at Gymnasium Hall on the campus, here today.
In men's section, only four matches took place as against scheduled 11 games on the day one. Whereas in women's section, none of the seven matches in the fixture could be held view of either walkovers or failure of both the teams to report despite confirming their participation.
Earlier, the competition was declared open by Director Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, JU, Prof. Dhian Singh Bhau. Also present were Dr. Vinod Bakshi, Narayani Jamwal, Balbir Singh Chib, Sumnesh Sharma, Sandeep Sharma, Roshan Lal Sharma, Kailash Singh, Dinesh Rajput, Sushil Kumar Sawhney, Raj Kumar Bakshi, Gagan Kumar, Ravish Vaid, Nisha Sharma, Sanjeev Jamwal and PD Singh.

MEN: PG Departments bt MAM College 4-0; GDC Hiranagar bt GDC Samba 3-1; GDC Poonch bt GDC Reasi 3-2; GDC Ramnagar bt IMS Patoli 3-2; GDC Paloura got walkover SRS Degree College; GDC Billawar got walkover GDC Rajouri; GGM Science College got walkover MIET; New Age College Billawar got walkover Trikuta Degree College; GDC Udhampur (Boys) got walkover GDC Ramban. In two scheduled matches both GDC Kishtwar and Bhargava Degree College Samba and GDC Thanamandi and GDC Mendhar failed to report.
WOMEN: GWC Gandhinagar got walkover SPMAR College of Commerce; GCET Jammu got walkover GDC Thannamandi; GDC Kathua got walkover GDC Rajouri; both MIET Jammu and GDC Kisthwar failed to report; both GDC Samba and GDC Ramnagar could not turn up; both SRS Degree College and GDC Billwar failed to report; both Trikuta Degree College and GDC Paloura could not report. |
