Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Sept 16: Taking cognizance of mental health gap reduction need, Directorate of Health Services Kashmir in collaboration with Royal College of Psychiatrists (UK) today initiated mental health Gap training programme at Regional Institute of Health & Family Welfare, Dhobiwan-Tangmarg. In a press release, the organizers of the programme said that the aim of the programme supported by World Health Organization is non-specialized health care settings at primary health care level thus enabling the prescribing and non-prescribing professionals to detect mental, neurological and substance use disorders at the primary level of treatment and management of better services for service need and service delivery system. "The programme has been designed for medical officers, clinical psychologists, nursing professionals, social activists, teachers, counselors, members from NGOs. The programme is conceptualized by CATMAP meaning communication, assessment, treatment, mobilization, attention and protection of human values," said the organizers. During the inaugural session, Amorist, a sociologist said that Kashmir having witnessed trauma, atrocities, abuses and depressions for more than two decades needs such beneficial services within the social web where the stress, strain and depression can be reduced by way of CATMAP and work collectively for the social justification. The programme has been coordinated by Dr. Sayed Aqeel, Member RCPsy and Dr. Muzaffar Ahmad Khan, Director, Police De-addiction Services. The programme has been sponsored by Jammu & Kashmir Bank Limited, Help Foundation, Action-aid, TCI Cements and Police De-addiction Services. |
