| WDC conducts awareness-cum-loan Mela for women at Sheynam, Leh | | | Early Times Report
LEH, Sept 16: J&K State Women's Development Corporation (JKWDC) today conducted a mega day long Awareness Camp-cum-Loan Mela at Sheynam Community Hall here. Women in large number attended the programme sponsored by National Minorities Development and Finance Corporation (NMDFC).
The camp was inaugurated by Union Joint Secretary, Ministry of Minorities Affairs and Managing Director, NMDFC, Mr.Y.P.Singh, by lighting the traditional lamp.
Mr Singh, while addressing the gathering, spoke at length about the schemes of NMDFC and expressed his appreciation for the work being done by the management of WDC in the State towards women's empowerment. Appreciating the interest shown by the women of Leh, Mr Singh impressed upon them to avail benefits of the Schemes of NMDFC to become economically self-reliant.
Managing Director State Women's Development Corporation, Dr Naheed Soz highlighted various schemes of NMDFC and appealed the women of District Leh to come forward and take benefit out of these schemes. She said JKWDC had sanctioned loan worth a crore of rupees to the women of Leh and Kargil for establishment of their own income generating units.
District Manager JKWDC Mr.Tahir Parvez, Sr.System Analyst, NMDFC, Delhi, Mr.V. Bhaskar, also addressed the gathering and discussed the schemes of NMDFC in detail for the benefit of the women participants.
During the Awareness Camp registration forms were distributed amongst potential beneficiaries and on spot registrations were also done. |
