Kathua, Oct 6: Anti Pollution Movement (APM) has expressed concern over unchecked pollution of cement industrial units in Kathua town. According to press release, a general body meeting of APM was held under the president ship of Mohinder Singh in the office chamber of the movement in which senior citizens and intellectuals participated. All the members expressed their deep concern over increasing air and water pollution in Kathua town. "inspite of repeated efforts, the district administration has turned a deaf ear and voluntarily allowed the pollution emitting units to mushroom and flourish to put the general public in deep trouble", he said. The members further said that offices of bureaucrats were miles away from industrial area, and so were unaware about the threats being faced by habitants of Govindsar, Amrit Vihar, Ram Nagar Colony Sawan Chak etc. "Besides the work for the completion of drainage line from CTM to Maggar khad has also not been started even after a lapse of 2 months after the assurance given by the administration", they said. It was also resolved to convene a massive protest rally/convention on 15-10-2013 to highlight the problems of pollution and failure of government to tackle the same for some vested reasons.
