Targeting VDCs to scare minorities in Jammu division
10/6/2013 10:45:25 PM
Eary Times Report

Jammu, Oct 6: Minorities in Kishtwar, who have suffered immensely in the August communal clashes and are a scared lot, are now being systematically harassed. The latest, though it was a part of the sinister plan, tool is to demonise the Village Defence Committees.
A non-descript organization has in press conference in Srinagar said that VDCs have unleashed terror in the Kishtwar area and have been given immunity by the administration.
The allegations are far off from the facts. On the contrary VDCs are being victimized by the administration.
Lately, a boy who was picked by Special Investigation Team was ruthlessly beaten.
The minorities in Kisthwar especially traders have suffered immensely. And it's not for the first time that they have been the target of separatists and terrorists.
Shamefully, Government has failed to disburse relief amongst the victims even after two months. Many allege that minorities were targeted in the region to trigger off another chapter of their migration from Kishtwar and adjoining areas.
The government provided them guns to safe guard themselves and they in return sacrificed their lives to root out terrorism. The guns have given them a sense of security.
Through these non descript organizations which have launched an unfounded targeted attack on VDCs have a nefarious divisive agenda and are mouth pieces of separatist and terror organizations.
Targeting VDCs and in the process minorities is part of sinister plan to whip out traces of minorities from Doda, Kishtwar Rajouri and Poonch and such allegations are part of this plan.
