sports reporter JAMMU, Oct 6: Last year's runners-up, Government Degree College (GDC) Kathua today lifted the annual inter-college men's kabaddi title outplaying equally good, the combined side of Post Graduate (PG) Departments of University of Jammu (JU) 28-24 in the final played on the campus fields, here. The match was so tough that the winner was decided on the basis of five raids each. In the stipulated time, the final ended in a 22-22 draw in the stipulated time. Earlier, in the semifinals, GDC Kathua defeated New Age College Phinter while PG Departments upset the defending champion, Government SPMR College of Commerce. Meanwhile, the women's title was retained by Government College for Women (GCW) Parade outplaying the combined side of PG Departments 27-22. Earlier, in the semifinals, PG defeated GCW Gandhi Nagar. Today's finals were officiated by Ankush Gupta, Harpreet Singh, Keshav Singh and Anuradha Bhagat. In the finals, Vice Chancellor, JU, Prof MPS Ishar was chief guest, who gave away winners trophies. Vice Chancellor appreciated the teams for the entertaining and thrilling finals. Director Sports and Physical Education, Prof. Dhian Singh Bhau presided.
