JAMMU, Oct 9: The two-day annual inter-college (men) athletics meet started today at Gymnasium Hall under the banner of Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, here.
The competition was declared open by Director Sports and Physical Education, JU, Prof Dhian Singh Bhau. Also present were Dr Vinod Bakshi, Narayani Jamwal, Balbir Singh, Roshan Sharma, Mukesh Sharma and Romesh Sharma.
The event has attracted a record participation this time with 80 wrestlers, representing 12 different colleges of the Jammu Province, competing for the top honours in eight weight categories.
Opening day witnessed preliminary round of the competition. The semifinals and final bouts have been scheduled for tomorrow at same venue from 10 am onwards. Today's competition was officiated by the technical penal including Jai Bharat, Bansi Lal Tidyal, Mulkh Raj, Sanjeev Jamwal and Sandeep Sharma.
