BMO Bhaderwah verbally attaches doctor
`No gynecologist available for 2 months'

JAMMU, Oct 9: Despite the fact that Health centers in far flung areas are facing acute dearth of doctors and State Government has been trying its best to ensure appointments but dashing to ground the efforts, Block Medical Officer (BMO) Bhaderwah attached a doctor appointed at Primary Health Center Sartingal to Sub District Hospital Bhaderwah.
Moreover, the post of Gynecologist at SDH Bhaderwah has been falling vacant for the last around two months, creating problems for poor people of far flung areas, who are short of money and depend on said hospital.
Sources informed Early Times that Dr. Basharat, whose actual place of appointment was at Primary Health Center Sartingal and was catering to the need of several thousands of poor habitants residing in several backward areas of State. "Dr. Basharat holds close allegiance to BMO, so he secured his posting at SDH Bhaderwah around two months back", sources said.
They further informed that though there was shortage of Gynecologist at SDH Bhaderwah, due to which thousands of poor people, who were entirely depend on Government hospitals have been facing acute hardships. "Due to vacant post of Gynecologist at SDH, Dr. Basharat has been holding the charge of Gynecologist even the fact that he is simply MBBS", sources said.
Neeraj Kumar a resident of Chattra, said that pregnant women didn't get proper medical treatment at SDH Bhaderwah, in absence of a Gynecologist.
Attributing these deaths to sheer negligence of State Government, he further said that there was no specialist at SDH, whenever a pregnant woman came at hospital. "The doctors admitted the pregnant women and begin treatment, but whenever the situation worsens, they refer the case to district hospital Doda, which many times prove fatal for newly born babies and mothers", he alleged.
BMO Bhaderwah, Dr. Abdul Hamid said that two posts including Gynecologist and Radiologist were vacant in SDH Bhaderwah. "Presently I and Dr. Basharat, whose actual place of posting is at PHC Sartingal and has been verbally attached to SDH Bhaderwah, have been managing the Gyne cases", he said.
