| After months of neglect and apathy, Jammu prepares to receive Omar's Darbaris | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 9: As the legislative Assembly was adjourned sine die by the Speaker in Srinagar today , preparations have started to give winter capital a dab after it was subjected to worst administrative breakdown in the last six months. The R&B department has already begun painting dividers and bridges in the city to welcome the darbaris and under this make up shall hide the pain and sufferings of the people of Jammu due to dug out roads, poor sanitation, defunct street lights, defunct traffic lights and lack of accountability on part of the administration. Though many feel that the administration works only for the comfort and convenience of Ministers and the bureaucrats, the fact remains that Jammu gets attention only when darbaris return to the winter capital, bringing some solace to the dented city. The neglect and apathy that Jammu is subjected to during the summer months vindicates the demand for trifurcation of the State as administrative vacuum that exists when durbar is in Kashmir makes life worse in the winter capital and there is no accountability on part of the administration. Omar's idea of running summer and winter secretariat in the capital cities in the absence of regular durbar seems to have done little to minimize this administrative vacuum. |
