| Pahari community demands ST status | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 9: Pahari Cultural and Welfare Forum today held a meeting and discussed the demand of conferring of the Pahari community of ST status and threatened the state government to launch agitation in case their demand was not fulfilled.
The session was presided over by veteran Pahari Leader KH Khan and organized by Haji Mohd Iqbal, all the participant expressed their full confidence in the leadership of Sayeed Mushtaq Bukhari Chairman Pahari Cultural and Welfare forum.
Chief Executive of the Movement, Shahbaz Khan and General Secretary Shamim Mughal said that State and Central government is provoking them to start community war in the region and if such happens it will take ugly turn in future. and state and center will be responsible for any type of situation, Shahbaz Khan and Shamim Mughal hailed the statement of veteran Gujjar leader who favored ST status to Paharis but he criticized such Gujjar leaders who are unnecessarily opposing their demand.
"These nefarious designs people are bent to exploit this genuine cause and create negative and bitter feelings between the two communities", he said adding that Gujjars even before the dawn of independence were hailing elite background. |
