LAHDC to commemorate death anniversary of Kushok Bakula

Leh, Oct 9: The 10th Anniversary of Padma Bhushan Kushok Bakula Rinpoche's Nirvena on November 4th will be observed in a very grand manner at Pologround, Leh which would be an annual event in the future.
It was decided today in an important meeting specially convened by CEC, LAHDC, Leh Rigzin Spalbar at Council Secretariat to invite valuable suggestions from various stakeholders to chuck out a plan to celebrate the grand day.
Terming late Bakula the Gandhi of Ladakh, CEC Rigzin Spalbar said that the modern history of Ladakh can't be imagined without remembering the 50 years long selfless and extraordinary service of Late Kushok Bakula Rinpoche specially in the field of education, politics and social work irrespective of caste and religion and it would be a real tribute to celebrate his death anniversary annually in a grand way spreading awareness about his great deeds and principle values focusing the younger generation so that they could carry forwards his mission to build Ladakh in a better way asserted Spalbar. He urged all the stakeholders including religious organizations and schools to come forward in making this day a meaningful one adding that he will try his level best to invite Speaker of Lok Saba Meira Kumar and Governor of J&K N.N Vohra on the grand occasion. Highlighting the late Bakula's contribution in Mongolia by reviving Buddhism in Mongolia endeavoring efforts to bring India and Mongolia closer to create a strong bonding between the two countries, the Late Bakula's private secretary Sonam Angchok expressed happiness over such endeavor to mark the death anniversary of Bakula which would be a great tribute to him said Angchok. He also urged the administration to make memorial Park Kushok Bakula Rinpoche for which CEC assures his full support and cooperation to chuck out a plan for it. Various participants including religious head expressed and share their views regarding the event celebration. The celebrate the event in grand manner an organizing committee was also constituted during the meeting and the committee headed by CEC as Chairman followed by Additional Deputy Commissioner Tsering Morup as working Chairman and fifteen other members drawn from various field.
During the event there would be Janki procession, photo exhibition display, Chams (mask dance), devotional songs and skit depicting the great contribution and life history of late Bakula, speeches etc with an aim to impart knowledge to the mass about his contribution. The event will be held on larger scale at Polo ground with international delegation participation including from America, Mongolia and China.
Among who attended the meeting were representatives from Spituk Monastery headed by Chakzot and Chokji Lama, Executive Councilors of LAHDC, Leh Dr. Sonam Wangchuk, Gyurmet Drojey, Lashu Shaffi, Late Bakula's private secretary Sonam Wangchuk Shakspo, Bhikkhu Sanghasena Director Mahabodhi, President LBA Youth Rinchen Namgail, Member LGA Thinles Chokdup, President AMI, Sheik Saif-ud-Din, Principals of Govt. and Private institutions, head of Media organizations and district officers headed by ADC, Leh Tsering Murup.
