Ahead of upcoming festivals, security forces organize road show

KISHTWAR, Oct 9: In order to check the preparedness of the security measures head of festivals of Dussehra and Eid-ul-Azha in communally sensitive Kishtwar which recently witnessed communal clashes on August 9 this year on Eid day, the security forces in Kishtwar today demonstrated its strength by organizing a road show. As many as 600 security personnel comprising of Jammu & Kashmir Armed Police, CRPF and SSB participated in the show of strength.
The road show march was led by SP Kishtwar Sanjay Kotwal, beside senior police officers of SSB and CRPF also participated in the march. According to senior police officers, the exercise was carried out to prepare its troops ahead of Dussehra festival falling on 13th and Eid-ul-Azha festival falling on October 16 of the ongoing month. The officials said that the aim and objective of organizing the road show was to display the strength of the security forces and to give a massage of sense of security among the common people, beside a warning to the anti-national and anti-social elements that the security forces in Kishtwar District are vigilant and will not allow the repeat of August 9 like situation. After the road show, all the senior officers of police, SSB and CRPF participated in a joint lunch programme held at District Police Line, Kishtwar.
While talking to "Early Times" SP Kishtwar Sanjay Kotwal said that the prime target of the police is to maintain peace and communal harmony in the District and added that no one will be allowed to destabilize the peace and tranquility. He said that if any miscreants will try to create any law and order problem, police will dealt them with iron hands. According to the official sources, District administration and Kishtwar police has made a comprehensive security plan ahead of Dussehra and Eid festival to thwart any attempt of nefarious elements to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere. The sources further added that police and administration will depute camera personnel along with full security cover to keep an eye on every activity in the town; beside the strength of the police personal in civil dresses will also be enhanced.
