| Paramedical students warn to intensify protest if demand not met | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, Oct 16: Resenting the dilly dallying attitude of concerned authorities and state government towards the students of different paramedical institutions of Kathua district, the agitating students continued their protest against shifting of their examinations centers to Jammu and further warned to intensify the protest if their demand is not met before Oct 18. A large number students including Pawan Kumar, Shivam Sharma, Nariender Kumar and many others Para Medical Trainees assembled at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park in Kathua today and amid sloganeering protesters alleged that the examination centers of their final exams have suddenly been shifted to Jammu which will pose major problems for the students from far remote areas for their boarding and lodging in a capital city. Some protestor hailing from Tehsil Billawar said that they have to change three buses to reach upto Kathua which is quite time consuming. "As most of them belong to poor families and cannot afford to stay in Jammu for days together during exams 'while the girl students will also face a lot of hardships due to shifting of the exam centers, they added. Condeming the dilly-dallying approch of the concerned authorities in this regard, the protestors said that the decision came at the elevanth hour and many students who belong to low income group can’t manage their long stay during examinations at winter capital which is infact a costly affair to them. Protestors also said that while GDC Kathua can conduct examinations in Kathua what forced the concerned authorities to shift centres from Kathua district. They warned if the order of shifting their examination centers is not revoked till October 18, they will be compelled to intensify the protest. |
