Near about 15000 people from different walks of life living in Kishtwar town and its peripheries took part in Eid prayers which passed off peacefully. All the entry and exit points leading to Kishtwar town and Eid prayers venue were sealed by the security forces. Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Baseer Ahmed Khan and DIG DKR Ashkoor Ahmed Wani personaly supervised the security arrangements and remained present outside Eid Nimaz venue till all the people left. While addressing the Eid gathering, Immam Jamia Masjid Kishtwar Farooq Ahmed Kichloo criticized the police and administration for arresting innocent youths in August 9 communal clashes related cases and demanded unconditional release of all the innocent persons arrested by the police. Meanwhile, despite appeals from the Immam Jamia Masjid Kishtwar, few miscreants raised pro Azadi, Pro Geelani and anti Indian slogans during Eid procession heading towards the shrine of Sufi saint. Few miscreants also indulged in heated arguments with police officers on duty, but with the timely intervention of the elders and senior police officers, the situation was brought under control.
