| Army pays floral tributes to L/N ' Mohd Firoz' martyred in Pak firing on LoC | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 16: Army paid rich floral tributes to late Lance Naik Mohd Feroz Khan who attained martyrdom during Pak firing at a forward post in Hamirpur area under Bhimber Gali Brigade on Tuesday. Defence spokesperson Jammu said, "The wreath lying ceremony was held at an artillery unit based at Dalogra on Jammu-Poonch Highway where the body was taken after postmortem at Army Hospital." "The wreaths were laid on behalf of Commander Northern Command, Lt Gen DS Hooda, GOC, 16 corps, while Maj Gen VP Singh, GOC, Infantry Division and GOC, Romeo Force present on the occasion," army spokesperson said. Recounting the daredevil's daring fighting with enemy, the spokesperson said, "Mohd Feroz Khan resident of Hydrabad was injured critically on Tuesday when a mortar shell fired by Pakistan army fell near the forward post which he was manning in Hamirpur area under 120 BG brigade." "Khan of 38 RR presently was attached with the 15 Bihar regiment and was manning the line of Control in Hamirpur sector along with Grenadiers, spokesperson said further adding, "Splinters hit Khan fatally who later succumbs to the injuries, army spokesperson said.. Quoting his colleagues, spokesperson said, " Khan was described as a brave, fearless and dedicated soldier as per colleagues who were accompanying the body. He added as per his fellow men he (Khan) didn't falter even in the face of heavy firing/mortar shelling while maintaining a steadfast vigil on the border." "Brave soldier was survived by wife and two children, he said. Meanwhile reporters at Rajouri resented they were not allowed to cover the wreath laying ceremony while denied the allegations from army that they have disturbed the ceremony as informed by the army to district police chief. |
