| Anganwari workers hold one day conference, demand hike in monthly honorarium | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 16: Anganwari Workers Welfare Association (AWWA), Jammu affiliated with Akhil Bhartiya Anganwadi Karamchari Mmaha Sangh held a one day conference to highlight their demands including hike in monthly honorarium. The conference held at Geeta Bhawan, Parade, Jammu under the chairmanship of Swarna Choudhary president of association in which a large number of delegates from all the Distts and Blocks participated. Speaking on the occasion, she opposed the extending working hours duty from 4 to 6 hours as it is against the spirit of ICDS. She further accused the central as well as state government for not implementing the ICDS Scheme in letter and spirit. ICDS scheme was launched on Oct 2, 1976 a centrally sponsored scheme in the country. Anqanwari workers are not holding any civil post nor minimum wageis applicable to them. They perform 4-5 hours duty per day as laid down in ICDS scheme and they are being paid for four hours. He warned the government to stop harassment to workers failing which agitation will be started, Karnail Chand state president, Ashok Choudhary and Neelam Sharma also spoke and demanded to implement pension scheme EPF scheme, ESI scheme, minimum wage, Act for the welfare of workers. They called upon the workers to remain united and fight for their genuine rights, against injustice and harassment to workers. They threatened agitation agai'1st injustice and in support of their demands. Prominent leaders who present included Lakshman, Ravinder Singh senior leader of Bhartiya mazdoor Sangh, Karnail Chand State president and Ashok Choudhary Prahbhari and secretary of Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh. |
