Kathua, Oct 18 : The anti adulteration drive launched by Municipal Council was merely an eyewash as during entire checking no violator was punished or any file was realized despite the fact that there is rampant violations across town. Due to the festival season the main bazar was over crowded and shoppers were finding it hard enough to pass through due to encroachments of path by shopkeepers. A team of Municipal Council led by food inspector Subash Raina conducted checking in the main bazaar but in-spite of taking action against any violator they team just passed through the whole bazaar neglecting the scene, expect giving warning to few. At another shop, a shopkeeper was found having stored crackers in the godown, but due to some reasons best known to them, the officer instead of taking any action was seen giving excuses on behalf of the shopkeeper. Moving forward, the officer went to workshop of a famous sweet shop where the scene was not only un-hygienic but horrible lacking cleanliness, house flies roaming in the air, sweets were prepared on the ground in the open air, several kilograms of sweets were found in worst condition as they were decomposed. Though the owner of the workshop was saying that they are using refrigerators for preserving the sweets but when checked all of them were found switch off, an official seeking anonymity said, adding that moreover there were four to five burners running on kerosene oil and two canisters of kerosene oil probably purchased in black. Keeping in view the whole situation, the officer rather than taking action the owner asked him to throw out the decomposed sweets. While briefing media persons, the officer told media persons that it was a simple raid just to warn the adulterators, encroachers and polythene bag sellers. Regarding the crackers, he said that he was not authorized unless and until an officer of magistrate powers was accompanied. |
