| BSF, IB apprehend major terrorist strike around Diwali | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 18: BSF and intelligence agencies are apprehending a major terror strike around Diwali in Jammu. The recent spurt in firing along the border and the targeting of civilians is an indication of the game plan of ISI to make leeway for pushing in terrorists. Top BSF and intelligence officials said they have tracked intercepts suggesting that Pakistan will continue to fire along border till Diwali. Sources said that the intensity is only going to increase in coming days. Intelligence officials said Pakistan is working on two pronged strategy for terror strikes again in Jammu and also in other parts of the country. Sources said the reason for spurt in firing along border is to keep the pressure on security agencies here, keep the administration focussed on this and also engage intelligence agencies and in the process find some leeway at softer points to push in infiltrators . "Pakistan is also desperately aiming to push in terrorists from LOC which is much easier from IB because of the terrain. However, having been unsuccessful from there it is trying to shift focus to IB so as to engage agencies there," said a senior BSF official. As per the sources, there is every apprehension that very likely possibility that a major terrorist strike is being planned. A BSF official said the Home Ministry has already been informed about the intercepts and as per the information shared with the top officials of the Home Ministry they are also apprehending the same. Pakistan for infusing a sense of terror before the terrorist strike is now targeting civilian population. On October 16, they had violated the ceasefire thrice in Kamalkote forward area of Uri belt, Krishna Gati and Bhimbhergali sub-sectors of Poonch district and Mangu Chak and Khatav Border Outposts along the International Border in Samba district. On October 15, lance naik MF Khan of 15 Bihar regiment was killed when Pakistani troops opened fire at Indian forward posts in Hamirpur-Balakote sub-sector in Poonch district. On the same day, Pakistani Army had shelled mortars and fired from small arms in forward areas along LoC in Hamirpur and Bhimbher Gali sub-sectors of Poonch district. On October 14, BSF constable M Basu was injured when Pakistani troops resorted to firing on Katav Border Outpost along the international border in Samba district. "The pattern definitely shows that now terrorists are planning to strike and it's for this reason that intelligence agencies have sounded alert and heightened alert is being made," said a senior official. |
