| Fake BPL card holders depriving genuine consumers | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Kathua, Oct 18 : A large number of fake and undeserved families are enjoying the facility of BPL category while actual poor and deserving families for BPL category of village Jarai and Mehsuspur are not given the status of BPL and deprived of ration facility also by the ration dealers.
This was stated by Babu Ram Sarpanch Jarai Panchayat here today. The large number of villagers expressed their resentment by holding the protest against the ration dealer of Jarai and the CAPD department for forcing the actual BPL population in darkness and way from the facility of ration. While speaking with ET on the occasion, the Sarpanch Babu Ram, Puro Devi, Raj Kumar and others alleged that the people who are well to do and big influential land owners are possessing the BPL category ration card and those who have not even a thatch to survive are left out of this BPL category.
They said this all have been done with the mutual understanding between administration and Ration Depot dealer. They said that dealers have been black marketing the ration in Punjab by digesting the major share of poor rationees of the area.
They told that mostly fake consumers are coming on this depot from Punjab and most of them are of Gujjar Community. They purchase the ration in black from the dealer at very high rates and even the major portion of the ration is to be smuggled to nearby state Punjab by the dealer. Whenever we go to depot for ration, the dealer start to abuse us by manhandling and forcibly he registers fake entry of receiving the ration by cutting the receipt of ration copy for the ration which we have never received, said one of the consumer.
They resented population urged the state government to conduct an investigation of the dealers, CAPD and of those who are possessing fake BPL ration cards since long and snatching the rights of innocent poor families of the villages. They told that ration bungling is not a fresh activity it has been happening since long and the actual BPL families and other poor families are ignored to given their due rights of ration, the dealer using the muscle power, they threaten theses people and even openly refused to them for not giving their ration. The ration consumers are Gujjars who hail from out state Punjab. |
