Jammu, Oct 20: Bhartiya Gujjar Mahasabha has expressed hope that the prevailing tensions along Indo-Pak borders in view of cease fire violations would calm down after the upcoming visit of union home minister, Sushil Kumar Shinde in the state.
In a statement issued here today, Bhartiya Gujjar Mahasabha, president, Eshfaq-ur-Rehman Poswal, said that the continuous cease fire violations from the last more than an year has taken its toll on the border residents, especially the Gujjars who reside in large numbers along borders.
He said that the first victim of crease fire violation was a Gujjar boy at Charrunda in Uri Sector of district Baramullah, last year.
He said that such incidents of firing from across the border have sent a wave of fear among the border residents.
"They are living in constant fear and are forced to migrate to other places leaving behind their property", he said adding that situation has gone from bad to worse during the last one year. He expressed hope that the home minister would take some positive and concrete measures to minimize tension along the borders and restoring confidence among the border residents. |
