| JU presents gory state of affair prior to prestigious Science Congress | | | MOHD IRFAN
JAMMU, Oct 20 : With just few months left for the prestigious Indian Science Congress-2014,the claims of Jammu university administration of giving face-lift confined to around campus vis-a-vis cutting of grass, trees, shrubs and installing tiles on foot path etc seems to have fallen flat.Sources privy to JU said exorbitant money which comes from UGC for spending on campus to give it a makeup shine is not properly utilized as it is squandered away for cutting of grasses and foot path around several departments on which prior shrubs are present and now JU is putting tiles on it for which there is not any need to cut the green shrubs which clearly indicates that JU administration doesn't know where to utilize money.
Sources divulge several teaching departments of JU where students are pursuing their P.G courses & professional, the condition of these departments are bad to worse with each passing day, courtesy callousness on the part of highest seat of the learning. "Poor sanitation is taking toll on the prestigious campus of JU as it loses its sanctity as several departments are in deplorable condition, sources said adding instead of knowledge seeker JU is slowly and gradually turned into stink hub".
Professor wishing not to be named said "Its the duty on the part of individuals to care about this campus & university staff have no sense of genuineness among themselves working in JU how to make this campus clean & restore its pristine glory intact" he rued.
"JU is gearing up to host Indian science congress which is scheduled to be attended by VVIPs comprising of 12000 delegates which is considered to be a challenge for JU administration and in Law department wall is broken which invites trouble for students, sources said adding students irk over poor infrastructure in their departments like broken desks coupled with dust on them exposing the inefficiency of the JU". One of the students said," I used to bring small cloth with me to clean the desk in class & other friends also share it with me and broken desks are uncomfortable to sit on. One does'nt understand ISO certified university has so poor sanitation if they have dearth of sweepers why they does'nt fill up the posts" he questioned.
Sources divulge that in JU there is one department of statistics where from peon to head of department are keenly intrested to make their department & surrounding clean. It is the duty on the part of HOD of other departments also to takes interest rather, they are busy in filling their own coffers. Sources revealed that stinking urinals in JU which create embarrassing situation for the students as flies in flush emanates foul smell which is home for any epidemic to break out. |
