SRINAGAR, Oct 20: Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President, Prof. Saif-ud-Din Soz today said that there is no need to carry out full-fledged war against Pakistan as the security forces are competent enough to thwart any attempt made to sneak into this side from across the border near the Line of Control.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of function held here at PCC headquarters, Prof. Soz referred to National Conference Additional General Secretary, Dr. Sheikh Mustafa Kamaal as an insane person who does not know what to talk. He said the Congress party does not take the statements of Dr. Kamaal as serious since the NC leader always talks non-sense.
The function was held in connection with the joining of prominent people like Ghulam Hassan Geelani, Tafazul Hussain and Farooq Renzu Shah into the Congress party. The others who joined the party on this occasion include Wali Mohammad Dar, Sheikh Gulzar, Abdul Rashid Malla, Bashir Ahmad Shah, Waseem Shalla and Mushtaq Ahmad Bazaz. "There are many stakeholders in Pakistan, there is Nawaz Sharief, there is the army and there are the militant elements. If Nawaz Sharief is serious and sincere in fostering friendly relations with India then he should rein in the militant elements so that anti-India activities are stopped. I believe that Pakistan Prime Minister is competent enough to take action against the militant elements," said PCC President.
Prof. Soz said that Pakistan should identify the elements that are carrying out firing on the Indian posts near the Line of Control. He said the Civil Society of Pakistan has understood that friendship with India is the best option available to them. He added that progress and prosperity of both India and Pakistan lies in peace and not skirmishes. "As far as giving a befitting reply to Pakistan is concerned I think there is no need for the same. The security forces neutralize the person whosoever tries to enter our territory or looks upon our country with bad intentions. Dialogue between India and Pakistan alone can ensure that there is peace, prosperity and progress in the sub-continent," said PCC President.
Addressing the rally earlier, Soz said that Congress has become a vibrant party in the state with more and more people joining its ranks. He said Congress party does not believe in politics of deceit and has always worked for the interests of people irrespective of the area they belong to. He said Muslims and Dalits across the country look upon Congress as a party that can ensure its safety as well as security.
The PCC President said that Shopian in South Kashmir is all set to witness an era of change as the members of Traders Federation, Shopian along with 50 Sarpanchs and Panchs would join Congress in near future. He said that 3,000 youth of downtown Srinagar joined Congress adding that 1,000 more persons are going to join the party in coming days.
Speaking on this occasion, Ghulam Hassan Geelani who has represented Budgam constituency from National Conference ticket in 1977, 1983, 1987 and 1996 said that he would strengthen the Congress party in his home district. He said he got impressed by the policies and programmes of the Congress party and decided to join the party. Former Director Information, Farooq Renzu said that Congress has emerged as a strong political force in Kashmir valley. He said that Congress party is driven by pro-people initiatives based on development and progress. He added that Prof. Soz has accessibility to get more funds from Centre so that there is holistic development in the state. Tafazul Hussain who retired as Vice-President, Jammu & Kashmir Bank said that he would try to make the people aware about various schemes of Agriculture, Tourism and other sectors linked with the overall economy of state.
