Sant Nirankari Mandal organises blood donation camp at Katra

Katra, Oct 20: Sant Nirankari Mandal branch Katra, Reasi and Charyee organized ninth voluntary Blood Donation Camp of 2013 in J&K on Sundayat Govt. Higher Secondary School, Ban Ganga Katra in the memory of Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji Maharaj who sacrificed his life for truth and humanity.
The camp was inaugurated by Sahid Iqbal Choudhary, Deputy Commissioner Reasi. While inaugurating the camp he complimented the Sant Nirankari Mission for the social welfare activities being carried out in Society, he said that donation of blood is the noblest service to humanity.
Other dignitaries who present in the camp were BMO, Katra, Gopal Dutt, Rakesh Wazir President of Hotel Association, DSP Katra. The blood Camp was held in collaboration with Govt Blood and Transfusion Department Medical College, Jammu and Indian Red cross Society and Red Cross Society and 106 units of blood were donated.
200 Nirankari were also ready to donate their blood but due to shortage of facilities they could not donate their blood. Ajit Singh, Zonal Incharge, J&K, Sant Nirankari Mandal, Presided over the congregation held on the occasion, he said that the devotees of the Mission are taking inspiration from His Holiness Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj who says that the "Blood should flow in human veins not in drains.
Water cooler inaugurated

Kathua , Oct 20: Member Legislative Council and president District Congress Committee Kathua Subash Chander Gupta inaugurated water cooler installed at the cost of Rs 0.51 lacs in Government Girls High School Hiranagar, the funds for which provided out of his constituency development funds scheme.
With this inauguration the long pending demand of the children and the staff of this school came to an end. Interacting with the children and the staff of the school Gupta said that Government is committed to provided all sorts of facilities to the all the education institutions in the state and there is no scarcity of funds.
He asked the children to show their full potential and achieve their goal in life. He also asked the teaching fraternity to explore and exploit the full potential of the children and give then right direction enabling them to achieve their goal.
Thanking Gupta for his generous funding to Government Girls High School Hiranagar right from the beginning, Neelam Kumari headmistress recalled the various services made by the MLC for the improvement/ development of this institutes. She also introduced the MLC with the various developments taking place in the school. Prominent among those who are present on occasion were Sat Paul Sharma, Yugal Kishore Bali, Narinder Singh Rathore, Manoj Kumar Sharma JEE PHE Hiranagar, KC Bhagat, Yash Pal Mintu, Parveen Devi and all the staff of the School.
Two injured in separate road mishaps

UDHAMPUR, Oct 20: Two persons got injured in two separate road accidents across Udhampur district.
According to police, a motorcycle bearing registration number BRO6N - 9728 collided with a truck bearing registration no JK14- 9435 near Bali Nallah, Udhampur. Locals shifted the injured identified as Krishna Kumar son of Ravinder Prashad to District Hospital, Udhampur.
Meanwhile, an unknown vehicle hit a motorcycle near Vince Chowk, Udhampur. The motorbike rider identified as Pawan Kumar, 55, son of Mulkh Raj of Raj Palace, Udhampur. Police have registered the respective cases and started investigation.
Induction programme organized at Kathua college

Kathua, Oct 20: IGNOU Study Centre, Government Degree College Kathua today organized Induction Programme for the new enrolled learners, which was attended by a large number of students, Staff and academiccouncellors.
According to press release, Dr. Nater Singh Raina, Principal Govt. Degree College Kathua was the Chief Guest while Dr. Janak Singh Andotra, Principal Govt. Women College Kathua, was the Guest of Honour.
Dr. Nater Singh in his address stressed upon the quality education which was the need of the day and could be acquired from prestigious institution like IGNOU.
Dr. Janak Singh shared with the new learners his rich academic experiences of being himself a Coordinator of this study Centre earlier and congratulated the students for making the right choice of choosing IGNOU.
Earlier in his welcome address, Prof. P.K. Rao, Coordinator of the Study Centre, welcomed the new learners and explained in detail the system being adopted by the IGNOU and functioning and student support services provided at the Study Centre.
Prof. Sumanesh Jasrotia and Dr. Arun Dev Singh, Asstt. Coordinator Prof. Jasvinder Singh, Prof. Samriti Singh also spoke on the occasion.
