Kathua, Oct 20: Mobile communication towers installed by Bharti Cellular Private Limited and Bharti Infratal ltd have been affecting the residents of ward number 14.
The residents claimed that that due to lower height of towers, as prescribed under standard norms, the radiations emitted by the towers was causing multiple fatal diseases.
Residents today staged protest demonstration against the administration and demanded the removal of towards from the ward.
The residents alleged that the involvement of Police, PDD, Pollution department, Municipal Council and administration was responsible for open violation of regulations and installation norms.
Paramjit Gurain, RTI activist said that against the standard norms of 60 meters height of towards, same were only 40 meter heigh, which were installed around decade back by Bharti Cellular Pvt. Ltd and Bharti Infra Infratal Ltd, without taking the NOC from the locality. "The receivers are fitted at just 20-30 meter height in total violation of 60 meters height", he said, adding that now the towers have been causing various ailments, but administration has turned a blind eye.
Kamlesh Rani said; Along with radiation threat, the noise pollution caused by generators was another serious issue which has been affecting hearing. Many times we approached the police and district administration but all in vain. Beena Devi- while expressing resentment said that whenever they appealed generator operation to switch off the same, he approached police and threatened us.
Dildar Singh- said that towers were installed without consent of masses. He appealed administration to take some serious action against the company. |
