REASI, Oct 24: In view of forthcoming Diwali festival, the department of Legal Metrology, Reasi, conducted an extensive checking of various business establishments' especially sweet shops, gold smith, vegetable and fruit sellers and booked 24 traders for violation of the Weight and Measures (enforcement) Act and Rules.
Assistant Controller Legal Metrology recovered Rs.20000 from the defaulters in 21cases. The department also booked one M/s Respite Cross Collection, a hardware manufacturing company for violation of packaged commodities rules viz for not displaying MRP, PKD and consumer helpline number on the packages of Angel Valve. On assurance of the company to rectify the defective packages before sale, the case was compounded by the Assistant Controller Legal Metrology Reasi for Rs.10000. Besides, the department directed all the traders to use only verified weights and measures for business transaction and display MRP, PKD, Net contents and complete address on the commodities to be sold in packaged form. |
